Tammy, as the co maker to an account that goes BK. The creditor can not report it to your account. I say this knowing It has been the practice of many creditors in the past. The fact it is not correct has not stopped them from doing this. The U.S. 7 District Court of Appeales this year, found for a man named Tobby Nelson. Tobby was a co signer and the person he co signed for went BK. The BK showed up on Tobbys credit report. The creditor said they were not reporting Tobby, but reporting the account as haveing gone BK. Now you make your dispute as Why Chat directed you. Keep the payments up on that account like the good Co signer you are. And If the dispute does not resolve the problem. Go to http://www.ftc.gov/ogc/briefs/nelont.pdf and you can read the Tobby Nelson case. And just how big of a hammer you are holding.
