I'm getting my house refinanced and a little extra to pay a loan and some credit card bills and was told by the lender that because I was going through Fannie Mae that I had to use the "extra" to pay off some CA's. A lot are charged off with last DLA dates of 10/98, 9/98, 1/99, & 8/99. I live in Maryland, SOL 3 yrs. The lender told me that I should contact the CA to settle. Should I or should I just leave it be? Gulf State and Sherman Acq are on my credit report and I actually never rec'd any correpondence from them. Not one. And I only just saw it on my credit report when I was applying for the mortgage. I actually contacted Gulf State to get something in writing and they said that they could only tell me that it was for a First Card credit card and the amount but nothing else. Any advice?
