I just wondered how long an item will stay on my credit report. I have some department store credit cards that I closed 10 years ago that still show up. Also a few years ago I had several "late" payments. I paid them off and closed the accounts in 1999. Will they automatically drop off at some point? I thought they would but some other ones haven't. I've sent an email to the "helpconsumerinfo" email address but never get any response.
