Is this an actual Federal student loan? It doesn't sound like it if you're being sued. For a Federal student loan, they don't have to take you to court to garnish wages or intercept your tax refund. Did you borrow money directly from the school?

There are people on here who can help, but they'll need a bit more information to do so. What state are you in now? What state were you in when you got the loan? When was the last time you made a payment on it? Who did you get the loan through?
