negotiate interest rates

can anyone give me any advice on the best way to negotiate interest rates on 2 credit cards i have? one is discover and the other is next card visa. due to late payments earlier this year they both went up to between 17% and 21%. i have now been paying on time and slightly more than the minimun payment so am wondering if they would even consider lowering the interest rate for me. thanks
