Too twitchy?

I am sending a validation letter to a CA for a debt that I'm certain is beyond the statute of limitations. I was told not to sign my validation letter because they can use my signature to forge other documents, but sending a letter certified/return receipt requires me to sign the return receipt itself--the PO said that the CA can request a record that will include my signature.

I share a PO Box with a friend who can send the registered letter for me and sign the RR, or I could just initial the RR. Is this worth worrying about, or am I being too twitchy?
