This "attorney" sounds very questionable, to say the least. I don't know what the judge in this case is doing but if **I** was the judge I wouldn't grant this "attorney" anything. He didn't show up for the mediation and he uses a sorry story about his phone line? The "attorney" sent YOU the letter requesting another mediation date? Do you have the name and address of this individual? You may need to investigate this person.

Something is not right at all about this.
