You should consider some greater risks to your credit than late payments and a repo.

If this bum causes an accident, drunk or on drugs, or in the commission of a crime, your insurance will not pay at all.

Or if a claim is made that is in excess of the insurance liability limits,you and your husband will be held financially responsible for any liability.

Instead of 10-15 thousand loss -you could be looking at total ruin.
