Credit Agency Says I Can't Dispute

I have several debts that are beyond the statute of limitations (they're all 8-9 years old) and which have fallen off of my credit report, except for one that was re-aged. I called all 3 credit report companies and asked them how to dispute the re-aged debt in order to get it removed. Two of them told me that a credit agency can keep re-posting the debt so long as it's unpaid and that each re-posting (from when a new CA purchases the debt) re-starts the 7 year window. The other affirmed that the original date of delinquency was the valid date for calculating the 7 year reporting window, but said that it was contingent on ME to supply them with records stating the date of the original delinquency.

I have no such records. I am writing a letter of validation asking them for the date on which the debt was first reported delinquent by the original creditor. Are they obligated to tell me this info? Can they lie about it because the records from the original creditors are lost or gone? I am afraid that, because I don't have any records myself, they can fabricate whatever they want.
