Capitol One Debt

I live in CA.
Charge off occoured 3 years ago.
Debt total is $1,800+/-. I got a cordial letter from Capitol One attempting to help me resolve my debt with them.
I was suspect as the debt had been passed around to a few other CA's over the last 3 years. I called Capitol One and asked about the PO box and phone# listed on this mailer and found that they are the contact for the Fraud department of Capitol One.
I am wondering if I should, as I can do this now, just contact them and pay the debt in full? What would be the best course of action here? Any suggestions will be very helpful,
