I have the same people (CAMCO) that just started calling me out of the woodwork on a Citibank CC from 1989-1993.
They say they've already called my mortgage company, they know where I live, and they are going to call all my neighbors. They already called the Human Resources Manager where I work, spoke to her and faxed her something.
I was getting ready to send a cease and desist letter. I am wondering if I am required to also ask for actual proof of the debt with signed receipts and dates in writing or can I just send a cease and desist. Is it better to ask for this proof up front in case they do file a suit or just leave it out, send a cease and desist, and see what happens? The statute of limitations in my state (CA) is 4 years.
Does anyone know?
