You really need to do ALL of this in writing, anything over the phone is pointless. There are some samples of settlement letters over at creditnet and, I believe, creditinfocenter.com. It may be too late, but you can try. If you do, you try some negotiation for how it will appear on your CR too.. the ideal is a 'paid as agreed' notation.
