You ask if a finance company will hurt your credit. I took out loans with american general finance. I lost about 20 points on my credit report and when it was paid I never gained a point back. When I took out a citifinancial loan I lost around 40 points on my credit report. I have paid 75% of it back and have not gained a point back. That being said- these were personal loans and yes they will hurt you. I applied for a credit card and was turned down because I had a finance loan on my credit report.
