Credit report shows paid

I had a traffic ticket in AZ in 2000 and they sent it to a CA. Now I have not paid this but on my credit report it shows paid. After applying for my a home loan they started calling me the woman did not give me her name but she told me that I had to pay it right then and there. When I told her that I did not have the money she got rude and said to me "you work all week where is your money" I then told her that was non of her business and that I have bills, a mortgage, and I 1 yr old daughter to support. She then told me that she would call me net month. I had not known it went to a CA until I got a copy of my credit report and it was on there showing paid. I'm confused. Do I do anything???? Do I make them validate or do I just wait for this lady to call me again at 8 am on a Saturday morning again????
