CAs file suit all the time. A charged-off acct. falls off your CRA report after seven years but bear in mind that some States' SOLs on certain accounts run past seven years. Also remember that there are many scavenger CAs that buy old debts and try to get uninformed people to pay on them when they do not have to. Happens all the time. Have you been served? What type of account is it? What state are you in? When was the last time you paid on the account? Please provide the details and we will help you.
