Carol , the validation process is to PROVE that they can legally collect on the debt in the 1st place .. its not nor does it really matter that you in fact know you own this money its a legal process past several yrs ago by congress to show that the collecton co. can prove they have LEGAL rights to collect on the debt .. IF they can not prove in writing that you owe on the debt then by law they would not be able to prove to a judge in a court of law either therefore have ZERO claim to a single dime more from you .. you have nothing to lose by validation becouse your sending in the cash anyways .. kel ...
