Personally, I have an account that was recently charged off. I tried to get the OC to take it back but they won't. Instead of trying to "settle" with the CA, I am in the process of trying to get a deletion in writing for payment in full. I owe the money and would like to pay the full amount (in payments). I also do not want to settle because of what Fenrir said- you have to pay taxes, they can resell the remaining amount, etc.. In the end, whether you settle or not depends on whether you feel comfortable with the terms. My only advice is get EVERYTHING in writing. BTW- can you share who this great CA is?
