If you haven't had some devastating setback, have your health, your incomes, and can dig in your heels and dig out, I'd say go for it. You might try some of the "living below your means" sites and some of the boards about paying off credit cards. Stay away from the "magical answers" - there isn't any magic wand to wave and make it all go away without harming your credit even more. There are some sites that have support message boards for folks in your situation, who just got in over their heads with the spending, started getting lates, then got the default interest rates, etc. They make a game out of saving on every little thing and you can really get into it, and cheer each other on. You need moral support, it can get rough. But if you pay on time for six months, a lot of the card companies will restore your interest rate to whatever it was originally, and you have a better chance of knocking those balances down.
