It looks to me as if the account was assigned to a collection agency who properly turne the proceeds over to CapOne, who then reported it according to the status of the account.

If the balance wasn't turned over to another CA,it was put in an "inactive" collection archive.

This means , hopefully, that it will sit there and not be turned over to a "Camco" for collection. Which means that you lucked out and are not going to be hounded for the balance, or have to pay income tax on it either.

CapOne has not "had" you, just the opposite, they are reporting it accurately, and to your benefit. The balance HAS to be accounted for somewhere, and having it as an unpaid balance, instead of in collection is to your advantage, especially if you are still within SOL.
