my husband owes about 50,000 for back personal income tax.( for 92-96) The IRS has a tax lien listed on his credit report, but it is not on our house. About 18 months ago the IRS basically told my husband that with his income he would never be able to pay off and that they would be in touch. We haven't heard one word since then. We hired an attorney to try to straighten this mess out, he said to lay low until July 2006 when the SOL is up on the majority of the debt. Was this correct? Is there something I should be doing? This was before we were married, we have a home but the mortgage is held by a private individual, I am worried that they will attach the lien to our house. HELP
