It really depends on how old the account is, what state you are in, how it is being reported, etc.

If the debt is inside SOL, it wouldn't hurt to send a validation/dispute letter, especially if it's close to SOL. On the other hand, if it is definitely out of SOL (and even better if it's no longer on your reports) then you should send the SOL letter from Why Chat's site.
