I received a call from the collection agency today that is handling our MBNA account. I sent a validation letter to them a month ago, got the green card and everything back. The man on the phone introduced himself and said he received my letter and unfortunately, "there is no original documentation regarding the account and the only way it is traced to us is with a SS#." (He said he got this info from MBNA) He said the company would cease attempting to collect the debt.

My question is, should I send a dispute/validation letter to the OC? I am in Alaska and according to what I can figure out the SOL on this account is up 4/2003. It is scheduled to come off my credit report (according to Experian) 4/2007. If I am interpreting the SOL of Alaska on a credit card, then 3 years is the SOL for this. First went past due 4/2000. Nothing has been paid on it since.

Should I bide my time and wait for the SOL to come up?

Thanks for all the freat information that I have received on this board. I have learned so much and am no longer intimidated by the CA's.
