I do not think your mother should be getting advice 3rd hand, however,
If she has any attachable or lienable assets, such as a car, home savings accounts, stocks etc. they will show up in any kind of asset search and she will have judgments filed against her.
Her pay may be below the minimum for garnishment, her ss benefits and retirement benefits can not be garnished unless she puts them into a checking or savings account and does not file the proper documentation to exempt them.
She may wish to consider BK, Cal. has 2 programs, and she should at least consult with an attorney before doing anything foolish.
It is useless to try any of those debt repair or consolidation services. Their profits are made from pocketing the fees. They will leave her in worse shape than before. If the calls are getting too much for her, she can send cease and desists to all, except the one where she has already filed a dispute. She should redispute THAT one through the Cal. Consumer protection service. And file a dispute with the cc company by CRRR.
Doing things by phone is worse than useless.
