Your mother made a huge mistake that I see any numbers of posters make. In a pout over poor servive or a disputed charge or whatever, they just quit paying the bill period. That is not how disagreements are handled. If you don't like the resolution with the lender, don't quit paying in protest. All that'll do is trash your credit with all of your other creditors and lead to escalting problems. If you feel you've a legimate complaint, keep paying while you work your way up the lenders chain of command or, take some legal action against the merchant. But, for goodness sake don't destroy yourself over a billing dispute.
