I was recently "served" by an attorney to appear in court for a credit card balance that was never paid.
The last payment I made was in 1998. The amount is approximately $2000.00 (most of which is probably interest!)They included a copy of the credit card agreement but nothing with my signature on it. I have not received a statement from the credit card company in years. Should I contact the attorney and ask them to prove the debt by sending me a detailed copy of all of the charges and a signed agreement? Also, how can I find out the effective date for the SOL (I live in Florida). I beleive the last payment was made early 1998, which means the 4 years would be up. I am not looking forward to going to court, but have no choice. Any information you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
