Collection Agencies will often give out 'case numbers' that SOUND official but really are not, its a common scare tactic. This 'attorney' is probably just another collection agency, and if you give us the name we could even look that up.
Anyway, to find out if this is 'for real', and I'd bet its NOT, call your county courthouse (is it Anderson county ? - I used to live in Greenville) and ask if they have anything filed against you. You can even give them this so-called 'case number' and find out if its real. If they truly had a lawsuit case pending, you would certainly have been served papers and would definitely know what's going on.
Do NOT call this 'attorney' back until you call the courthouse and check on this. If its NOT real, c'mon back here and we'll go from there.
BTW - how old is this CC debt ??? It's very important. When did you last pay on it ?
