going too lose money no matter what

need help out there. fiance's sister co-signs for snowmobile with her ex-boyfriend and is he is not making payments. sled is worth 2,200 and she owes 4,000. the guy has title and refuses to make payments and she refuses also,but it is her credit. question is, does she let the bank come and getit or get screwed and pay for it. she has house, brand new car and credit cards, but how long is it on your credit report?
