Will Cancelling Credit Cards Hurt Score?

If I were to personally close all of my credit cards except for one, how would this look on my credit report and would it change my score for the better or worse. Just wondering, I am trying to get rid of some of these cards (once they are paid off), and just wanted to know the best way to go about it.
