It seems some of them will close the account, others don't seem to do anything. I rotate around, put a charge on each card I care about keeping, every few months, then pay it off within the grace period, just to keep it active. So far I haven't had any CCC take any action against me - it's been a couple of years now. There may be other factors that influence their decisions to close accounts or lower limits, but basically, I think, if they don't see other negatives on your report, and they have some hope of you eventually using the card, they let you keep it.

Maybe some others have had different experiences/opinions.
