Well, this is easy,file a motion with the Court (I assume this was a default judgment) stating that you could not file a motion to vacate the original judgment in a timely manner as you were unaware of it's existance until the garnishment demand, however you wish to file a notice of appeal of any renewal of the judgment.

This should allow you at least to have a hearing for any reewal, at which time you can bring up whatever defenses or objections you should have brought up at the initial hearing.

If they can't or don't renew the judgment, they will be unable to take any action on it at all, which includes reopening any garnishment procedure.
