Help with husband's credit report

My husband and I are trying to buy a house. We are buying the house in his name only. My Sears account is showing up on his credit report. He has never been an authorized user; he was only authorized to talk to people concerning the account.
I talked to the Sears people and they gave me an address to write to. It's been over 30 days, and we've still haven't heard from them. It was to Credit Bureau Disputes. My husband talked to one of the credit bureaus and they said that Sears would have to handle it. Sears told me that one of the credit bureaus would have to handle it. So, who's right? The mortgage company said that if we got a letter from Sears saying he wasn't on the account that would suffice, but he wants it off his credit. What do we do?
