DO NOT apply for any credit until you have obtained your credit reports. Get them individually, starting with Experian.

Get them snail mailed to you, not over the internet.Some States require the CRA's 1 free credit report a year.

Once you get it, start disputing in writing erroneous information or accounts that you know are over-age.

Once you have cleaned up all 3 of your reports, then you can apply for new credit, you may be offerred unsecured prime cards once your reports are updated and cleaned.
