received a summons from a collection agency representing a creditor of which did not know name of--looked on better business bureau found out was a credit card company i used to have and have not paid since 1999. went down to civil court filed an "answer" stating did not know creditor {at that time} i live in ny--i have a court date set for tues 11-19--never received a call from attorney or proof of account being sued. what are my options in the case--dont they need to show me proof--if they place a judgement against me how long do i have to pay--i am giving them some money if this is my account help
