Fact - The banking industry poured incredible amounts of money into various PAC's and the party national committees for the purpose of increasing influence. It is the American way under the present system.

Fact - American banks employ many American workers, most of whom are overworked and underpaid. Most of those banks are owned by stockholders, many of whom are not Americans, and some of these American banks are now relocating jobs such as customer service reps overseas. American banks are not All-American apple pie organizations.

Fact - Under the new BK rules filing Ch7 will be very difficult for all, including those who get sick or lose a job.

Opinion - Banks do not lose money on bad debts, they make less profit. Executive perks still increase while the drive up teller is given a tale of poverty. Will increasing bank profits lower interest rates? No; End ATM charges? Nah; Create more banking jobs? Don't think so; Make for wealthier executives? Probably; Make for newer, bigger, prettier corporate headquarters? Yep; Pay that drive up teller more? No Way; Bring those call centers back from India and hire an America staff? Are you kidding, that costs money !!

Opinion - The same banks wanting the BK reform are the ones that granted the unsecured credit to the "shysters" who rang up the 1000's in consumer debt. They now reap what they have sewn and accept absolutely no responsibility.

Opinion - 75% of the country has no interest or concern over BK reform. Until the erosion of civil liberties becomes personal, only a small minority care.

And no one needs a civics lesson. Words like democracy and republic have different meanings to different people. It was not long ago that the world had the German Democratic Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Same words, different definitions.
