the definition of "democracy" and "republic" is not mine. It's the one that the college tutor of my American Government class gave me. Of course I am not going to define "republic" in the way that a German or a Russian would use the word, when talking to an American. I'm going to define "republic" as the Americans define it. Since the American Government tutor at the university used that definition, I'm assuming that that is the one used in mainstream America.
