My husband and I got very behind on our credit cards.
However, since January of this year, we have been
able to pay off 8 of the 11. Many of the companies
were willing to work with us. The situation we are
in now, is that PDI Management has advised us that
they are going to sue us. We made arrangements
in July to make an initial $2,000 payment and $1,764 a month for 5 months. We were able to do this because
my husband was placed on active duty as a result of
9/11 and gets paid almost twice as much as his normal
job. We expected him to be on active duty for 12
months but he came back after 9. We have already paid
half of our $10,000 debt, and wanted to renegotiate
payment with PDI because of our change in finances, we
could not keep our original agreement. They refused to work with us, and gave us 48 hours to come up with the balance of $5,800. We have not been able to do this. Now they are threatening to sue us and make us pay for their court fees. In addition, one of the PDI managers told me that if I tried to escalate this higher than him in the company, then he would also sue us for other charges, that they did not initially make arrangments on,he said that he was noting my account to add the charges to my account if I called back and tried to escalate. What can I do? I do not want to go to court, and I am still willing to make arrangements on my debt. Thanks!
