My wife was in a business partner ship last year that went sour. She was listed as the primary on their corporate AMX credit card account. When she left, she cut up her card, but didn't think to cancel the account. Her ex-parter's have charged $10,000 on the account and haven't paid it in quite awhile. We do have a lawyer working on this, but we were contacted by a collection agency this evening (they left a message, we haven't actually talked to them). We won't be able to talk to our lawyer until at least Monday and are looking for a little advice. Long term, I think we can sue these people since there was an agreement signed that said that my wife is not liable for anything the company does essentially. We don't really care about sticking it to them or anything, we just want the thing paid and out of our hair. The main individual involved in this is kind of an egomaniac and I can't think of anything to convince him to be sensible. Can we somehow take the items that were bought on this card? Assuming they're even physical items and not things like web-hosting accounts and such. Is there any kind of immediate action we can take? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
