Help I need out of this!

This summer I was stupid and fell for the sales pitch for a time share. Now I am two months behind on my payments and am trying to figure a way out. They told me that once I am 90 days overdue they'll turn the account over to a collections agency and don't know what actions the collections agency will take. The best outcome for me would be just to get paid to date and turn the timeshare back over to them and just write off the lost deposit and payments to experience. Does anyone have experience with getting rid of a timeshare?
