Hello, Why Chat and everyone else, I need a bit of direction; Hubby receives letters from the NY State Attorney General's office about a tuition debt (College) that he was issued a judgment on in 1996. They are threatening to garnish wages, subpoena employer, freeze accounts, etc...for the amount $1,200, approximately. He thought this was part of the Direct Loan consolidation program, which A.G. office says was not. Problem is hubby swears he never ever received papers for this judgment -- I mean we're talking years here, how do I go about disputing the fact that he was never served of this judgment....who do I send the paperwork to, the credit bureau if I can find which one it's on, OR the A.G.'s office...????? Thanks in advance for any help... Lynnette :)
