Try this. Ask for the name and badge number (or other identifying information) of the person calling you. Ask for a mailing address and fax number. Do not engage in any other discussion with the caller. Mail and fax this letter (changing things as appropriate):

Dear Joe Bloe,

You and your colleauges have repeatedly called me at xxx-xxx-xxxx. YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO CALL ME AT THAT OR ANY OTHER NUMBER. ANY PERMISSION PREVIOUSLY GIVEN, WHETHER BY CONTRACT OR ANY OTHER METHOD, IS EXPRESSLY REVOKED.

If you call me again I will report you, your company, and your phone number to my local law enforcement officials and the telephone company for making harassing phone calls.

Sincerely,

Angry at Providian

If you don't have a fax machine, send the fax from a place like Mailboxes. It will be worth the cost.

If they call after the fax was sent, do what the letter promises.
