My mother is near death and has alot of credit card bill. She has no possessions, no savings, etc. She lives with my sister and her life insurance is only $5,500 which is not even going to cover her funeral and burial expenses. Is the family responsible for her debts after her death if she doesn't have an estate for them to be paid from?
