Can they lien my house or force me to sell?

Thank goodness I found this board! I'm in California. Paid on my credit card last in March 2002. (Direct Merchants) I attempted vigorously during that last month to resolve my issues with them(gave them $405) and their addition problems until I finally refused to give them any more money. Now I'm being sued by their collection agency.(received notice 10/6) I just received their copy of application for "entry of default" so that they can proceed I suppose. I tried to work out payments with them but they want twice what I paid the card company. I suspect the judgment will not go in my favor. We are self employed in construction which means we work sometimes and sometimes not. My husband is down as the owner of the company making me technically unemployed. My name is the only one on the lawsuit because the card was issued to me five or six years ago. Our only asset is our home. We have a truck, but they can take that for all I care. I just want to do something about the house if it looks like they are going to lien or force a sale. Can they or is my home exempt from the judgment? I've tried reading in the laws but it's all Greek to me. Thank, Tam
