It is true that people can obtain proof of payment from their insurance providers, although they SHOULD be keeping their copies anyway.

That, however, is not the problem. Health care providers are carelessly and thoughtlessly turning over accounts to CAs without any concern for the damage they are doing.Their accounting departments treat ALL accounts that are unpaid, for whatever reason, as collection accounts.

Unless and until their e&o insurance and their malpractice insurance gets hit with FTC claims for their actions, they will continue to carelessly ruin people's credit.
