Go out to the FTC and go to the FDCPA and look for the FTC Staff Opinion letters. You want the Wollman letter, which specifically outlines what is considered to be proper validation. A printout of statments alone is NOT enough, neither is a copy of a contract alone enough.

There is also case law, Spears v. Brennan, which I think is under Amicus Briefs on the FTC site, that also defines proper validation.

I'm dealing with Creditors Interchange too, so I'd like to know a bit about your dealings with them. I haven't send validation demand to them yet.
