Last week my husband was served for medical bills, patially from last year when he was sick, and from my daughter's birth in 2000. We are bing sued for 874.44, the supporting documents with the summons actually total $514. What's with the other $360? If these are "late" charges or something else, why have I not been given the statement of such charges? We have not called their lawyer yet to make payment arrangments; I was wanting to clear up first the issue of how much we owe. Also, if it does go to court and we are unable to pay now, will they garnish my husband's wages (Nebraska)? My husband is schitzophrenic, I had to quit my job this year because he was not able to provide a safe environment for them (he works second shift) to stay home with the kids AND with him. Do courts generally garnish the entire check? We are currently on public assistance to help us get through, so whatever money we do have obvoiously goes to bills and such, which means we really do not have the funds to pay these medical bills. Any help would be appreciated!!
