Are both you and your husband named in the summons?

If so, there should be a form included for you to fill out. If there isn't, you should appear in court on the day scheduled and state that you do not believe the accounts is yours in the amount requested. Your insurance was suppossed to have paid, and if the Dr did not file in time, it is not your responsibility.

If there is a form, fill it out denying the claim and stating you will appear. If you negotiate now, you are putting yorself in a bad bargaining position.

Make sure the CA is licensed in Nebraska, and call legal aid for information about medical debts. I THINK Nebrasa is one of the States that prohibits lawsuit collection after a year past the time of service.

Here is a link to a site that tells you how to answer a lawsuit.I will try to find the Neb. laws on medical debts.
