How old is the debt?
What State are you in?
Has the account been sold or has it been assigned? If the account has been sold to the CA and the OC accepts yor payment, you will have the same problem as a poster several weeks ago. The CA not only was still able to collect from him,but the OC had no record of where the payment went. If, however, it is a newly defaulted loan, and has been assigned (not sold) to a CA, you can request that the OC remove it from the CA and THEN you will pay the OC, but you need confirmation in writing.
