Question about a C&D letter...

I've noticed that in most C&D letter samples, the writer should indicate the account number of the debt in question. What if the debt is so old (15 years) that the writer has no ideas as to what the account number in question is? Incidentally, I live in Florida and the "collector" is the notorious CAMCO.
