Yes. The burdon of proof is on THEM. Write a letter disputing it. Verbage is ultra important. (always send certified,return receipt requested)"I was never late on _____ , please investigate this and remove it from my credit." If they don't remove it you write another letter demanding written proof (the law requires they give you written proof, i.e. cancelled checks, original credit app., billing statements, credit card receipts, etc.). If that doesn't work you try to verify the information with the creditor, in the same way. If they can't provide you with written proof in 30 days, the item by law must be removed from you credit. Next you write a letter back again to the credit bureaus stating that the creditor was unable to verify the information. Mail them a copy of the return receipt. This should take care of it. If it doesn't, report them to the FTC, Attorney General's, and Subcommittee on Banking and Insurance, and CC the letter to all the credit bureaus.
