Assoc/Citibank problem. Need Help!!!!!!!

I recently started a new job, in which the company I now work for ran a credit check on me. They found that I have two outstanding debts with ASSOC/CITI totalling less than $200.00, but it's on my credit report, and is causing me problems. I called Citibank, and they had no record of a card, but said that if it had already been written off as outstanding, that they would have the information I needed in archives, and could not access it. I don't recall ever having a card with the company, so I am wondering if this is some sort of collections for another business. I don't have any idea what it is though. The individual I spoke to told me to write a letter or fax one to the Credit Bureau report department, and then informed me that they would probably respond in 30 days or so. I really don't want to wait for this company to respond, because it's probably not an issue to them, as to whether my credit report looks bad or not, so I am sure they will take their time, if I don't get ignored entirely. What can I do to expedite this process, and get my report cleaned up? Please Help!!!!!!!!
